Audi<\/strong> has officially revealed the Nuvolari<\/strong>, its first supercar<\/strong> featuring a high-performance hybrid powertrain and the most powerful production<\/strong> vehicle in the brand\u2019s history. Named after the legendary<\/strong> Italian racer Tazio Nuvolari<\/strong>, the limited-edition model – just 499 units<\/strong> globally – serves as a bold statement of Audi\u2019s renewed focus on emotion, performance<\/strong>, and innovation<\/strong> following the discontinuation of the R8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the Nuvolari is a plug-in hybrid<\/strong> system combining a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8<\/strong> engine with three<\/strong> axial-flux electric motors<\/strong>. The combustion engine alone delivers around 588kW<\/strong> and revs to an exhilarating 10 000 rpm<\/strong>, while the electric motors contribute additional power for a total system output of 736kW<\/strong>. This setup propels the carbon-bodied<\/strong> supercar from 0 – 100km\/h<\/strong> in just 2.6 seconds<\/strong> and on to a top speed exceeding 350km\/h.<\/strong> A compact 7.3 kWh battery<\/strong> supports short electric-only driving stints. And by short we mean a handful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advanced engineering shines through with the quattro<\/strong> all-wheel-drive system enhanced by front-axle electric motors delivering massive torque (up to 2 150 Nm<\/strong>), active aerodynamics, and a lightweight carbon fibre<\/strong> structure. The design introduces Audi\u2019s new philosophy; sharp, emotional<\/strong> lines that blend futuristic aggression<\/strong> with clarity and control in the interior<\/strong>, prioritising driver experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Priced around \u20ac600,000 (roughly R11.3 million<\/strong>), the Nuvolari is positioned as an ultra-exclusive<\/strong> halo<\/strong> car developed with input from motorsport expertise, including Formula 1<\/strong> collaboration. It builds on shared architecture<\/strong> with Lamborghini\u2019s Temerario<\/strong> but asserts a distinct Audi identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audi CEO Gernot D\u00f6llner<\/strong> emphasised the car\u2019s significance: \u201cThe Audi Nuvolari is a physical manifestation of Audi\u2019s technological renewal<\/strong>.\u201d He added that it \u201cbrings pure emotion<\/strong> and performance to the road\u201d and \u201creveals how we are taking \u2018Vorsprung durch Technik\u2019 into a new era,\u201d accelerating progress across development and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nuvolari not only fills the void left by the R8 but signals Audi\u2019s commitment<\/strong> to high-performance hybrids<\/strong> alongside its broader electrification strategy.
