HORSE<\/strong> is a London-based powertrain company that was started by the Renault Group<\/strong> and Geely Group<\/strong> back in 2024<\/strong>. Its aim? To supply the industry<\/strong>, not just its initial creators, with innovative and cutting-edge powertrains<\/strong>. So recently it was announced that HORSE had developed a new powertrain called the HORSE B20<\/strong> that is 100% waterproof<\/strong> at depths of up to 1.1 metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is quite incredible<\/strong> and the fact that it can be applied to any number of applications, including full ICE, Hybrid<\/strong>, Plug-in Hybrid and REEV<\/strong>, is an added bonus. The engine itself is a 2.0-litre turbo<\/strong> petrol motor with power capabilities of between 140kW<\/strong> and 185kW<\/strong>, as well as torque of between 300Nm<\/strong> and 380Nm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to HORSE, the engine showcases several innovations<\/strong>, \u201cThese include high-pressure injectors<\/strong> and high-tumble intake ports, which promote superior air-fuel mixing and more efficient combustion. Additionally, the engine features pistons designed to make full use of the \u201csquish<\/strong>\u201d effect to promote air-fuel mixing at the peak of the compression cycle<\/strong> \u2013 this enables the spark plug to ignite a cleaner<\/strong> and faster combustion event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably the most obvious useful<\/strong> application for the Mzansi<\/strong> market would be if installed into a REEV bakkie<\/strong>, since our bakkies do travel through some of the most challenging surfaces<\/strong> like wet gravel, wetlands, flooded urban<\/strong> areas etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
