In accordance with the requirements<\/strong> of the National Consumer Protection Act, Ford Motor Company<\/strong> of Southern Africa is recalling two model lines sold in Mzansi over the past few years. The effected products are the Ford Mustang<\/strong> manufactured between 2021<\/strong> and 2022, as well as the Transit Custom<\/strong> models manufactured between 2024<\/strong> and 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Ford regarding the Transit Custom units, \u201cFMCSA has identified that in the affected vehicles, the passenger airbag<\/strong> needs to be replaced as a filter within the inflator<\/strong> might not meet the thickness specification. Under normal driving conditions, this issue does not affect vehicle operation<\/strong>. However, in the event of an accident<\/strong> that meets the parameters for airbag deployment, the out of specification filters may restrict gas flow from the inflator. There are five (5) vehicles<\/strong> affected in South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as the Mustang \u201cFMCSA has identified that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure<\/strong> and flow from the fuel tank due to failure<\/strong> of the low-pressure<\/strong> fuel pump. Loss of fuel pressure and flow from the low-pressure fuel pump can be due to internal contamination of the jet pump, specifically in low fuel conditions and reduced fuel pump<\/strong> internal clearances, that result in an increase of internal friction and sensitivity to vapour<\/strong> lock. This may cause a lack of fuel delivery to the engine<\/strong> and result in an engine stall. An engine stall while driving increases<\/strong> the risk of an accident. There are 333 vehicles affected in Southern Africa (South Africa \u2013 330<\/strong>; Botswana \u2013 1; Namibia \u20132).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coincidentally Ford is also recalling 115\u00a0000 Mustang<\/strong> in North America<\/strong> due to a faulty seal<\/strong> that can allow water<\/strong> sip in and affect the car\u2019s exterior lighting<\/strong> system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
