O<\/strong>ur spies have caught the BMW 1 Series Gran Turismo<\/strong> going about its handling testing business at the Nurburgring\u2019s Nordschleife<\/strong>. The 1 Series GT follows BMW\u2019s new GT series first started by the 5<\/strong>, and then the 3<\/strong>. We should see the little big c<\/strong>ar on our roads sometime in late 2014<\/strong>, if not early 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to spy reports, the car would either be offered as a 5<\/strong> or 7-seat<\/strong> option, making it one hell of a long 1 Series. Another important<\/strong> departure will be the fact that it will be based on a front-wheel-drive<\/strong> platform, something BMW has always frowned upon but has now embraced as a quick<\/strong> solution to interior space constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the engines, we expect the 1 GT to feature the company\u2019s new 1.5-litre<\/strong> petrol and diesel turbos. The punchy 3-cylinder<\/strong> engines can produce anything between 90kW<\/strong> and 165kW<\/strong> in petrol guise, and 60kW<\/strong> to 135kW<\/strong> (330Nm<\/strong>) for the diesels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
