BMW<\/strong> has announced two extremely special<\/strong> homage vehicles<\/strong> that a few members of the Mzansi<\/strong> public can actually attain. The new 325iS Homage<\/strong> and 333i Homage<\/strong> editions are truly unique<\/strong> and very much pay respect<\/strong> to the old-generation<\/strong> models that bear their names. Only 33<\/strong> of each model will be available<\/strong> for sale, and all of them will be auctioned<\/strong> off from set base prices<\/strong>. So what exactly are you buying here? Well you will remember the iconic 325iS<\/strong>, affectionately known as the Gusheshe<\/strong>, a car that was especially created from the E30<\/strong> model of the 1980s<\/strong> in order to crush<\/strong> the competition on the racing track<\/strong>. Which it did. The road-going model was a 2.7-litre<\/strong> homologation special, churning out 155kW<\/strong> and 265Nm<\/strong> of torque to its rear wheels via a manual<\/strong> gearbox. It terrorised all and sundry<\/strong> with its stunning<\/strong> performance, agility and exhaust tailpipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new version is called 325iS Homage<\/strong> and only 33 units<\/strong> will be made. Although based on the current-model M240i<\/strong> xDrive instead of a 3 Series<\/strong> (3 and 4 Series are longer and the Homage cars needed to mimic their ancestors<\/strong> in size<\/strong>), it carries serious thump. Power comes from the revered 3.0-litre straight six turbo engine worth 285kW<\/strong> and 500Nm<\/strong>. Paired with an 8-speed automatic, the car is said to sprint from standstill to 100km\/h<\/strong> in a swift 4.3 seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extra body kit has been installed to let the 325iS Homage stand out properly from the crowd. Personal favourites<\/strong> include the front carbon air duct, front splitter, heritage wheels<\/strong>, and that menacing double rear spoiler.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the 333i Homage<\/strong> (also limited to 33 units), it harks back to the 3.2-litre<\/strong> powered 333i, produced between 1985<\/strong> and 1987<\/strong>. It made a class-leading 146kW<\/strong> and 295Nm<\/strong> for the rear wheels, with accompanying brass soundtrack<\/strong>. From that original to the new M2-based<\/strong> model, we get 353kW<\/strong> and 600Nm<\/strong>, also to the rear axle, for a claimed 0-100km\/h<\/strong> dash in 4 seconds<\/strong>. BMW didn\u2019t say this, but this is a strong recipe for drift<\/strong> sessions. As a special bonus, 5 of these<\/strong> units will be fitted with a manual<\/strong> transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Body kit includes a \u201c1 of 33\u201d<\/strong> commemorative plaque, that original Uberkaro<\/strong> tartan upholstery for the armrest, carbon bucket seats<\/strong> and those sweet sweet<\/strong> sweet Alpina<\/strong> wheels. Serious enthusiasts will adore the four exhaust <\/strong>centre tailpipes that just finish off this beauty. The 2 Series<\/strong> is manufactured in Mexico<\/strong> and so these cars will be assembled<\/strong> there specifically and specially for the Mzansi<\/strong> market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you get a hold of one? BMW has an online auction portal <\/strong>where they will be auctioned for the benefit of certain charities<\/strong>. Whereas the starting prices<\/strong> are listed, whatever is profited on top of those will be donated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
