Mahindra<\/strong> has been in Mzansi<\/strong> now for 21 years<\/strong>. Over that period of time the Indian<\/strong> automotive brand has demonstrated a substantial<\/strong> amount of growth, proven by its frequent appearance<\/strong> in the top 15 best-selling<\/strong> car brands in the country over the past two years. Of course their products are the main drivers of this growth<\/strong>, and the Scorpio-N<\/strong> is but one important cog in that wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched<\/strong> locally in early 2023<\/strong>, the Scorpio-N has already taken serious accolades<\/strong> in the market, including the Adventure SUV of the Year<\/strong> at the 2024 South African Car of the Year Awards<\/strong> sponsored by Old Mutual Insure. It also won the Motor Enthusiast Award<\/strong> during the same awards. That was a massive deal<\/strong> for the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Mahindra, it is important<\/strong> that we deliver on our promise<\/strong> of honest<\/strong> and real value-for-money for each customer who has bought a Mahindra over the past two decades.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so the car has joined our long-term fleet<\/strong> with high expectations. A brief look at the powertrain details revealed a 2.2-litre turbo diesel<\/strong> engine producing 129kW<\/strong> of power and 400Nm<\/strong> of pulling torque. Good numbers on any mid-sized SUV<\/strong>, especially when looking at that torque<\/strong> figure. We will be looking out for fuel consumption<\/strong> behaviour, given that this is a diesel, albeit in a hefty body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main features<\/strong> of the Scorpio-N is the 7-seater<\/strong> configuration, which we look forward to putting to use over the period of a month<\/strong> that we will have the car for. Practicality<\/strong> has become an essential<\/strong> for Mzansi car buyers and 7 seats certainly add this dimension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra priced<\/strong> our unit at R623 000<\/strong>, and several features were mentioned to accompany this figure. They include the 12 speaker Sony<\/strong> sound system, accessed through the infotainment<\/strong> touch screen, Android Auto<\/strong>, electric power windows, a sunroof<\/strong>, multifunction steering wheel, leather seats<\/strong> and a 4×4 system<\/strong> among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
