Porsche AG<\/strong> has announced that a new CEO<\/strong> will take over the company in January 2026<\/strong>, replacing current CEO Oliver Blume. Dr Michael Leiters<\/strong> (54) \u2013 a German by origin \u2013 was most recently CEO of McLaren Automotive, a role he begun in July 2022. Previous to that he was the Chief Technology Officer at Ferrari, from 2014 to 2022. Interestingly Leiters was at Porsche<\/strong> before the other two competitors, serving<\/strong> in various roles between 2000 and 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Leiters will take over a limping<\/strong> Porsche that has seen sales<\/strong> and profits<\/strong> decline over the past three years, thanks mainly to a soft China<\/strong> market, Trump tariffs<\/strong> and a general slowdown in global automotive sales. As such, the company is scheduled<\/strong> to lay off 1 900<\/strong> workers over the next few years. In contrast, the Mzansi<\/strong> operation \u2013 led by Toby Venter<\/strong> \u2013 has been steady, even thriving in some respects, averaging around 100 unit sales<\/strong> per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Blume has been in a dual role<\/strong> for the past 10 years<\/strong>, holding the reigns as both Volkswagen Group CEO<\/strong> and Porsche AG CEO<\/strong>.
