Toyota<\/strong> plans to go bigger<\/strong> than ever on its luxury Century<\/strong> brand. While most people around the world are not familiar<\/strong> with Century, it has been around since<\/strong> 1967<\/strong> when the first Century-branded car was revealed. Since then several models<\/strong> have been sold in extremely small batches<\/strong>. However, Toyota is now ready to take on the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley in the very top end<\/strong> of the luxury<\/strong> segment with the Century, and not Lexus<\/strong> brand. Lexus will remain the company\u2019s premium<\/strong> segment brand, facing off with other established<\/strong> premium brands like Audi, BMW, Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz. Century however, has a different mission<\/strong>; to capture the souls<\/strong> of those who live in mansions<\/strong> and drive cars uncommon on the streets due to their high-end value. To illustrate<\/strong> the point, industry experts estimate that a mere 600-odd<\/strong> units of Century cars saw new owners in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April<\/strong> I shot some pictures of three Century cars<\/strong> (posted above) while at the Shanghai Auto Show<\/strong>. Even then I realised Toyota was getting serious<\/strong> with that brand, although I did not get any official information<\/strong> or confirmation<\/strong> thereof back then. What this now means is that Century will go much more global, covering most if not all the continents, offering discerning<\/strong> customers super luxury and more choice. With its international distribution<\/strong> footprint, network and marketing<\/strong> prowess, this should be a simple, but perhaps not easy task for the mother brand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
