Having played in the twin turbo diesel<\/strong> segment for some years now, Ford<\/strong> is pulling out and focusing more on what its Mzansi<\/strong> customers apparently prefer: tradition. As such, the company will no longer<\/strong> be offering the 2.2-litre bi-turbo diesel<\/strong> powertrain in its Everest<\/strong> and Ranger<\/strong> models going forward. At the same time, a new motor<\/strong> is being added for those who like more petrol power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the exit<\/strong> of the bi-turbo diesel, Ford will keep its 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel<\/strong> in the market, and actually expand it into other models that have previously not had it before. It will sell alongside the single<\/strong> turbo 2.0-litre turbo diesel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For petrol lovers, Ford says it will add the 2.3-litre EcoBoost<\/strong> petrol engine that has done diligent duty<\/strong> in the Mustang<\/strong>. The 4-cylinder<\/strong> engine with an aluminium block and turbo produces some 222kW<\/strong> of maximum power, as well as 452Nm<\/strong> of pulling torque. Look out for it during the first half of 2026 as it is phased into both Ranger<\/strong> and Everest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
