Previously<\/strong> we wondered if the new Toyota Hilux Legend 55<\/strong> is actually capable, and not just a pretty face. Well, judging by the powertrain<\/strong>, there should not be any issues<\/strong> in that department. Strapped<\/strong> with the trusted<\/strong>, proven and long-living 4-cylinder, 2.8-litre turbo diesel<\/strong> motor, the vehicle is able to produce some 150kW<\/strong> of power between 3 000rpm and 3 400rpm. At the same time, maximum torque of 500Nm<\/strong> is at hand from as early as 1 600rpm, all the way up to 2 800rpm. Mated to it is a 6-speed automatic<\/strong> transmission across the Legend 55 range. Buyers will still have a choice<\/strong> to add the 4×4<\/strong> element or stick with two wheel-drive in both Xtra and double cab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little-known feature from Toyota is its in-car WiFi<\/strong> capability that is also available to Legend 55 customers and allows the vehicle\u2019s occupants to access WiFi services while inside. The leather-covered steering wheel<\/strong> with multi functions feels solid and can be adjusted to suit different-sized drivers. One of the coolest<\/strong> but underrated features are the two dash-mounted cup holders<\/strong> which blow air onto whatever drink is placed on them, keeping it either cool or warm, depending on the air blown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course other goodies include the 20.3cm touch screen<\/strong> at the dashboard centre, equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto<\/strong> connectivity, as well as the standard infotainment<\/strong> features like radio<\/strong> and Bluetooth. Dual-zone<\/strong> air conditioning keeps the occupants comfortable<\/strong>, and the USB ports<\/strong> are able to plug in what they need to access, whether it is charging<\/strong> their mobile phones or playing music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Hilux would be incomplete without safety systems<\/strong>, of which there are plenty on the Legend 55. These include ABS brakes, Park Distance Control<\/strong>, a reverse camera system<\/strong>, Hill Assist Control for moving off hills without rolling backwards, Lane Keeping System<\/strong> and others. Part of the physical protection package are the driver<\/strong>, driver knees, passenger, side, and curtain airbags<\/strong> we all wish we will never need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
