Toyota has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer who will be based at the company headquarters in 1 Toyota-chō, Toyota City in Japan. Kenta Kon san (57) will succeed Koji Sato san, who has been CEO for the past three years. Sato san will become company Vice Chairman, working alongside Chairman Akio Toyoda san, whom Sato san himself succeeded.
Kon san has a degree in Economics and was previously Toyoda san’s secretary. He is currently the company Chief Financial Officer. Last year Toyota sold 11.3 million cars globally, and is projected to be on a path to making $23.8 billion (around R381 billion) profit for the financial year ending this April.
