JAGUAR 4 DOOR GT: POWER DETAILS REVEALED

If you have been unware, consider this your info alert. A few years ago, Jaguar decided it would become an electric-only car manufacturing company by 2026. Well, we are now in 2026 and the electric revolution has not quite happened the way European governments might have envisaged it would. EV sales are not great, globally not just in Mzansi, and manufacturers are scaling back quite dramatically on EV production and plans going forward.

But Jaguar has so far stuck to its guns. In fact, the company doubled down by announcing it would also move into the higher-end market segment, essentially competing against the likes of high-end BMWs, Bentleys, Mercedes-Maybach and the like. And the upcoming 4 door GT – pictured here in camouflage – is the poster boy of this change from Jaguar. We will see it in pictures and videos for the first time in September 2026.

Not a lot is known about the car’s technical details, except for the following: it carries an electric-only powertrain with over 735kW of power and a thumping 1 300Nm of pulling torque. Remember the Bugatti Veyron, once the world’s most powerful and fastest car? It had figures similar to this 4 door GT.

The big Jaguar will signal what upcoming future Jaguar models will look like as well. Because we cannot clearly see the design lines and the like, we cannot confirm the rumour that the car does not have a rear window, and will instead use camera systems to project rear views for the driver. JLR already has early versions of this system in many of their Land Rover cars.

“Right from the start,” says Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover, “our aim was to deliver a true Jaguar. To do that, we wanted to re-examine the provenance of the brand and the best way to achieve this was to drive some of our greatest models from the past 90 years. It provided clear direction to help us create the most technically advanced Jaguar ever made.”
