FIRST ELECTRIC RANGE ROVER ANNOUNCED

JLR started their electrification journey way back in 2019 when Jaguar unveiled the i-PACE to the public, following a few years of development. That car set the tone for the company going forward, culminating in the controversial Type 01, the upcoming, super powerful, super expensive electric Jaguar. Now the Land Rover side is following on the full-electric electric path, with this new Range Rover GT.

While the Range Rover GT will initially be launched as a full-electric car, at some point later it will carry a plugin-Hybrid powertrain. “The Range Rover GT will redefine the grand-touring segment with the ability to deliver beautiful and engaging GT poise,” said Martin Limpert, Managing Director, Range Rover. “Proportions and long-distance refinement while offering capabilities no conventional GT can match. We have spent the last few years working obsessively on the fundamentals of the GT formula, reinterpreted in a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover way.”

These camouflaged pictures show a silhouette that harks to the Velar, with that sleep Coupe-like flow. Range Rover says the interior – while being abundant with sustainable materials – remains highly advanced in terms of the tech in use. The company also assures that legroom and space in general, are not at a premium.

We currently don’t have much to go on in the powertrain department, but will assume the GT will share some components with that Jaguar Type 01. Not a lot, just a few. But should be enough to make it quite enticing.
