BMW is readying two different M3 models for launch toward the end of this year and early 2027. Recently we saw the electric iM3, which only uses electric power to propel it forward, testing before its unveiling. Now we are seeing the petrol M3 that will keep the company’s trusted 6-cylinder, twin turbo engine as its foundation.
While petrol power is fully in place in the new S58 engine, some electrification will be available, but quite minimal, in order to save weight and keep the car as light as possible for maximum performance. What is not known (yet) is exactly how much power. We can speculate to say over 430kW, alternatively sent to all four wheels via the xDrive system.
We can see the influence of the Neue Klasse look, especially with the headlights, front grille, and rear lights. Of course this being an M car, four exhaust tailpipes would not be missing. It is somewhat surprising that the car still hides behind so much camouflage, given that the new i3 has already been unveiled, and the M3 itself will be shown around November. Nevertheless, very little is hidden to the eye that is aware.
