Full technical details are still under wraps, but the messaging is clear. The Sport Electric will complete the powertrain line-up alongside the existing plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid V8, and six-cylinder petrol and diesel options. An advanced chassis tune and a distinctive new audio soundtrack are said to deliver the same visceral, engaging drive that defines the current car, only now with the instant response that only electric can provide.
For Mzansi buyers this matters. The Range Rover Sport has long been the choice for those who want genuine all-terrain ability without sacrificing the luxury and presence expected of the brand. An electric version that keeps that character while adding zero-tailpipe-emission running will open the model to a new group of clients who want both performance and progressive credentials.
Of course, the usual questions remain: real-world range in our heat and on our roads, charging times, and how the price will stack up against the already expensive petrol and diesel variants. Those answers will come later this year when the full specification is released.
