In what is its biggest recall in recent times, BMW is recalling 12 491 cars in Mzansi. All the cars are affected by the same issue and the company is urging owners of the affected cars to contact their nearest dealership for the remedy. The problem is centred around the starter motor.
According to BMW, in the affected cars, water can enter the starter motor at various parts, causing corrosion and disallowing the car to start. It could lead to overheating, and in some instances, fires. The cars in question have been on sale in Mzansi since 2016, and are:
- 3 Series (G20 model)
- 4 Series (G22)
- 5 Series (G30)
- Z4 (G29)
- X3 (G01)
- X4Â (G02)
