The Volkswagen brand – which is the biggest chunk of the Volkswagen Group – has reported that it sold 4.73 million cars globally in 2025. The year was challenging for Volkswagen as well, evidenced by the 1.4% overall drop in sales compared to 2024. China and North America were the largest drivers of this sales decline, down 8.4% and 8.2% each respectively.
In China, Volkswagen’s most important region, the company sold 2 015 200 cars. Second to that was Europe with 1 318 100 cars sold. The third-largest region was South America, having moved 568 200 units for the period, followed by North America with 544 000. The rest of the world – including Mzansi – contributed only around 284 000 cars combined to the 4.73 million figure.
