Renault continues executing its comeback, with the upcoming 2027 Bridger leading the charge for emerging markets. Shown in this boxy concept form, the Bridger is a rugged, sub-compact SUV that channels its squared-off jawlines, a rear-mounted spare wheel, and that no-nonsense look that screams adventure. At just under 4 metres long, it’s noticeably shorter than the current Duster, positioning it as a compact, urban car that still packs presence.

Power-wise, expect a multi-energy approach that keeps things flexible: pure petrol engines for the, hybrid systems for better efficiency, and even full-electric variants promised to deliver best-in-class range and performance in the segment. Renault’s betting big on this one being developed in India, with production kicking off there before the end of 2027, then rolling out gradually to other key markets like Mzansi and the Middle East. It’s part of the brand’s broader international offensive, said to be around 14 new models by 2030.
Inside we expect some clever space packaging, with claims of 400 litres of boot space and class-generous rear legroom. A relatively high driving position for good visibility, practical touches, and that French polish Renault is bringing to the table should make it feel premium despite the compact dimensions.
It’s obviously still very early days yet, but if the production version stays true to this concept, it could give the likes of Suzuki Jimny some serious competition. We’ll be watching closely as 2027 approaches. Given the current state of things in terms of competition – especially from China – pricing will be key for the Bridger.
