Audi South Africa has announced the availability of the updated S3 models. Both the sedan and Sportback versions have gone on sale in Mzansi, each costing just over R1 million. For that you also get more power; Audi has gifted the pair some more Golf R power as well.

The Audi S3 has stood as the stoic in-betweener, straddling the area between the regular A3 range and the hard core RS 3. Yes it began as a rang-topper itself, but was since surpassed by the 5-cylinder RS model. So with this update, S3 buyers get 245kW and 420Nm of torque, available between 2 100 and 5 500 rpm. Such power comes from the upgraded 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine, as well as the 7-speed S tronic transmission. Thanks in no small part to the quattro AWD system, the S3 will attain a 4.7 second 0 – 100km/h sprint time, and a 250km/h top end.
Some of the features included in the cars are a redesigned hexagonal frameless Singleframe grille, Matrix LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, sports leather seats, stainless steel foot pedals, a flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel and illuminated door seals. The MMI infotainment system comes via a 25.6cm touch screen.
The cars are sold with different exterior colours, including Daytona Grey, Progressive Red, Ascari Blue and District Blue.
