Porsche has changed its tactics somewhat, as lower global sales bite. One of Germany’s finest was due to accelerate its electrification programme, with a number of models either getting electrified (Hybrid), or completely replaced by electric models (Macan). Demand for electric cars has cooled off over the past 18 months, no thanks to among others, Trump tariffs and the cancellation of EV subsidies. As such, we are now entering a new age for Porsche.
At the lower end of things, we see a new sub-compact SUV powered by petrol engines and electric motors; Hybrid. It essentially replaces the Macan, which is now fully-electric only. The new baby should officially see the day of light in 2027, sharing its Hybrid underpinnings with some of the Volkswagen Group’s other products.
At the other scale of things is the big SUV, probably sporting 7 seats and making it the largest Porsche ever built. It will compete against the likes of BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, as well as the upcoming Audi Q9, with which it shares a platform. Likely powertrains are plug-in Hybrid and fully electric. It will be on the roads by 2029.
